In the fields of light manipulation and localization, quasiperiodic photonic crystals, or quasicrystals (PQs), are causing an upsurge in research because their rotational symmetry long-range orientation transverse lattice arrays, as they lack translational symmetry. It allows for optimization well-established propagation properties has introduced new guiding features. Therefore, a class, crystal fibers, quasicrystal fibers (PQFs), considered to add flexibility richness optical expected offer significant potential applications fiber fields. this review, fundamental concept, working mechanisms, invention history PQFs explained. Recent progress property improvement its novel such dispersion control, polarization-maintenance, supercontinuum generation, orbital angular momentum transmission, plasmon-based sensors filters, high nonlinearity topological mode then reviewed detail. Bandgap-type air-guiding supporting low attenuation regulation density states cladding which guidance is achieved by coherent Bragg scattering also summarized. Finally, current challenges encountered mechanisms practical preparation techniques, well prospects trends PQFs, presented.
